How to test Realme Q is Waterproof device

Do You Need A Waterproof Smartphone?



The demands of modern customers are increasing day by day. Taking care of that, Realme announced a splashproof body of Realme 5 which has passed many waterproof tests and is great for the price customers are paying. However, this can’t be sure with Realme Q as no IP68 details are there on the official homepage. However according to the internet leaks, it sure is waterproof to some extent.


A waterproof smartphone can be really handy when you need o use your device in rainy weather, to talk or to play games while in shower. You can also enjoy underwater photography or videography etc. Or if you’re crazy enough, you can video call your friends while going for scuba diving. The possibilities are endless, but only if the new Realme Q is properly waterproof and IP68 certified.

Realme Q specifications, it sports a 6.5-inch display with full-HD+ resolution, waterdrop-notch, and a screen-to-body ratio of 90.6 percent. The phone is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 712 SoC paired with up to 8GB of RAM and 128GB user-expandable storage. In the imaging department, there is a 48-megapixel + 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens with a 119-degree field-of-view + 2-megapixel depth sensor + 2-megapixel macro lens on the rear. For selfies, the Realme Q sports a 16-megapixel shooter with f/2.0 on the front. The cameras include features such as Chroma Boost, Nightscape Mode, PDAF, EIS, 960fps slow-motion video shooting, and 4K video recording at 30fps.

Software-wise, the Realme Q runs Android 9 Pie-based ColorOS out of the box. The handset is driven by a 4,035mAh battery with 20W VOOC 3.0 fast charging. The fingerprint scanner is at the phone’s back, which has a glass layer atop. The handset can also be unlocked via face unlock and includes connectivity options such as 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 5, GPS + GLONASS, and USB Type-C port

Realme Q Waterproof Test

Since we don’t have any official update on the waterproofing capabilities of Realme Q, we will be performing Realme Q waterproof test to find out the truth.

Realme Q Splashproof Test

In this waterproof test, we are going to put the device in artificial rain condition. It will mimic the condition of an accidental water splash. This test will give us a rough idea of whether the new Realme Q is splashproof or not.

After conducting this test, we can say that this phone is pretty much splashproof. As the camera and screen are working fine after the test. So users don’t need to worry for any accidental juice spill or water splashes. This phone can handle that easily. However, the speaker does muffle a little bit which is not a good sign.

Realme Q Waterproof Test

In this waterproof test, we are going to put the device in a small tub full of water for 1 minute. This test will give us a rough idea of whether the new Realme Q is splashproof or not.

After conducting this test, we can say that this phone is not fully waterproof. The screen goes white after the test indicating that water has gone inside the device. User must take proper care of this device when near any water bodies such as pool, pond, lake, etc.
 

Realme Q Dustproof Test
In our dustproof test, we will keep the device in a sandy environment with lots of grain and sand particles with a running fan around it. This situation mimics dust storms and will check how the device holds in such conditions.

As you can see from the test results above that the new Realme Q is fully dustproof. There is no compromisation in any of the functionality due to dust particles in the test.
