Google Pixel 2 and 2 XL November 2019 Security patch: QP1A.191105.004

The latest software update brings November 2019 Android Security Patch comes with the build number QP1A.191105.004 for Pixel 2 and 2 XL that fixes almost 17 issues. According to the Android Security Bulletin-November 2019, there is a critical security vulnerability in the System component that could enable a remote attacker using a specially crafted file to execute arbitrary code that has been fixed now. It’s worth mentioning that the Essential Phone also received the November 2019 patch with improved system security. Now, let’s take a quick look at the Pixel 2 series update changelog below.

The QP1A.191105.004 firmware update for Pixel 2/2 XL brings some of the improvements along with the latest security patch level. In terms of the other improvements, the latest update improves Google Assistant Hotword and provides additional support for Xbox BT controller mapping as well for both the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL devices.



Check for OTA Updates

Google always offers software updates to its devices via OTA (over-the-air) and it may take some time to arrive on all devices based on your region and carrier. So, you may have to wait for a few days. But if you don’t want to wait longer, you can check for OTA updates manually.
 


  • Go to device Settings > System menu > System Update.
  • Tap on the Check for Update option.
  • If you see the new QP1A.191105.004 update is available on your Pixel 2 series device, then tap on the download and install option.
  •  Make sure to connect your device to a Wi-Fi network for faster and stable updates. Charge your device more than 60% minimum as well.
